Wow, I have been so busy that I haven’t been able to blog…from a huge 150 year old tree falling in my daughter’s grandparents yard to me winning a nice web cam at a meeting.

I feel so bad.  I try so hard to keep this blog going on a regular basis and something always happens and I am either out somewhere or have gone out and taken lots of shots and am setting them up on my flickr web gallery.  This past week was a big week for things happening in my life.

Tuesday, my daughter’s grandparents tree fell in the street where they live and I was down there taking pictures and looking at the baby birds that fell from the nest when the tree toppled over and we went to Randolph Park in Dublin, VA and I went to a business meeting with Daisy and won a new logitech web camera and, well you get the idea.  :)

I think what I am going to do from now on is just put the link in here to the set of photo’s I have been working on and let you go and look at the photo’s there instead of trying to upload them here and there too.  Besides it is truly easy on flickr and it isn’t so easy here.

Ok, here is the link for pictures of the baby birds that fell out of the tree in my daughter’s grandparents yard.  I will be adding the pictures of the tree itself soon so check back there again later.

I also have been working on making some of my shots look better and applying filters to them.  I took some great shots of the sun setting the other night in Boones Mill, Virginia.  It showed the sun’s rays and the clouds and the mountains.  I was really impressed with it myself.  The page where it is located is below.

On Friday of last week I took the girls and their boyfriends to a water park in Dublin, Virginia called Randolph Park.  We had been there last year and liked it, so we decided to go back again.  I don’t think I will be going back anymore.  With the price of gas, we need to find somewhere closer to Roanoke with water slides.  It also was the coldest water I have ever been in and the website says the water is heated.  I want to say bull malarkey to that.  I swear a fresh water creek in the mountains would not have been any colder.  BRRRRRRR!   A few of the pictures I took up there that day are on the first page of photovirginia.com under the Randolph Park link.   I took some great shots of 2 little boys there and played around with the shots and got them how I wanted them.

I have already gotten over 11 gigs of pictures on this computer and have not worked on even half of them.  I have shots from the Vinton Dogwood Fair, the Roanoke Fair, the Colors Festival in Downtown Roanoke, and many many other sets of pictures that I have taken and not done anything with them.  Eventually I hope to get them up on the website like I did Daisy’s…in slideshow galleries.  It’s easier with hers, she just puts them on CD’s and all I have to do is make the slideshow and add that html to the page.  She does all the work before she brings them to me.  With mine I have to crop them, enhance them, and do many other things before I can let anyone see them.  Yea, I know I am too picky…but I want them to look good and the person to be able to ooh and ahh over them.  I am pretty proud of my camera and all of the lens that I have and I want them to just pop out at you.  I feel like I could work on them 24/7 and never get them all done.  The day of the Colors Festival in downtown Roanoke, Virginia…I took 700+ photo’s that day alone.  So imagine going through each of those and picking out your favorites and then making them look unique and stand out.  It is not just snapping the picture’s when you are a photographer.  You want people to remember that photograph.

Plus, every chance I get I go out and take more shots and that means more time spent.  lol

I did get some of my shots on the Channel 10 website this past week from the tree falling but I had to get them in so fast that I didn’t  get to make them look good.  I also was in the Roanoke Times from where I talked to the News guy about the tree falling.  We are advertising everywhere and going to business meetings and trying to promote Daisy a lot.

Daisy is an awesome photographer and I do want us to be able to work together.  She is a good photographer and I am too, but I like promoting the business..  We work together like that.

We went to  a business meeting Saturday and it was strange.  I knew I would know some people  there from  my days in advertising but it was actually totally different than what I thought and what was the weirdest thing was…there were 2 door prizes given out that day.  Both of them were Logitech webcam’s and wouldn’t you know that both Daisy and I won them.  It was kind of like it was meant for us to work together.  We meet with them again tomorrow to find out more about this program.  Daisy is really excited and I am  sure I will be once I learn more, but I usually always play devil’s advocate and Daisy is the more positive.  I just can’t be positive.  I learned long ago not to get my hopes up about anything.  So I think negative and when something goes wrong…I already knew it.  lol
