Douthat State Park in Virginia
May 11, 2008 Personal Thoughts, VA, Visited Sites in Virginia No CommentsI am so behind in my blog that it is sickening. My pictures from Douthat State Park and from the fairs in Vinton, Virginia and Roanoke Civic Center are not on here yet. I have been taking pictures and going to birthday parties and just have been so busy that I have not been able to add anything to this blog. I have added the Virginia Tech Memorial Service pictures of the one year annivesary of the VA Tech Massacre to my pbase photo gallery which you can find listed at the bottom of this page on the right. It says PBase Gallery or click on www.pbase.com/momof4inva and go down to the second set of pictures for VA Tech.
I also have been adding shots here and there and I am up to the 18th of April. I will be editing the pictures and putting them on here soon regarding our trip to Douthat State Park in Millboro, Virginia and can’t wait for you to see them.
I will be back soon with pictures of Douthat State Park and hope you will enjoy them. It is an awesome state park and if you are handicapped, you do not have to pay to park and can use the facilities there at a very low price. They have picnic areas, swimming, paddle boats, kayaking, camping and beautiful beautiful scenery. I did see 2 birds there that I have not seen in the Roanoke, Virginia area and will show them to you as well. I have been to 3 birthday parties and will try to show you some of those photo’s as well.
Just to let all of you know there is a big thing at Elmwood Park next weekend and here is the info for that.
Next Saturday, May 17th-2008 will be the 18th year of the Local Color festival, held in Elmwood Park Plaza down town Roanoke from 11Am- 5Pm,FREE admission.
It will have about 70 countries participating from around the world. It should be really fun day with a lot of activities for everyone, shows from different countries and a variety of authentic international food.
Hope to see you all there.

The Roanoke Civic Center Fair starts this Wednesday night, running through Sunday the 18th of May as far as I can tell. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and during the day on Saturday will be all you can ride for a flat fee of $16. That sounds reasonable and there are a lot of good rides to ride there. Hope to see you there too.
